Elementary students at Esprit de Corps Center for Learning showcased their creativity, ingenuity, and teamwork by designing and building a Lego Christmas Village that became the centerpiece of a book they authored, titled The Secret of Newville Christmas Village. The project integrated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts at every stage, fostering essential skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. The students applied engineering principles to design and construct the village, ensuring structural stability and aesthetic appeal. They utilized mathematical skills to calculate proportions, dimensions, and symmetry in their designs. Technology skills were employed as they explored digital tools to document their progress and assist with the typesetting of the book. Additionally, scientific thinking came into play as they experimented with different materials and configurations to achieve desired outcomes. Through teamwork and effective communication, the students collaboratively developed the village concept, constructed it piece by piece, and crafted a compelling narrative for their book. Their teacher supported them by helping typeset and publish the story, turning their imaginative project into a tangible accomplishment that combined creativity with STEM-driven learning.
